So, what is Makaton? It’s a language programme that uses signs, symbols, and speech to help people communicate. It’s based on British Sign Language, but it’s not the same Makaton follows spoken English and supports speech, not replaces it. And it definitely doesn’t stop children from talking it actually helps build confidence and understanding.
